Frequently asked questions
Common questions
How much does it cost to send a short message?
You pay only a standard tariff of your mobile operator per SMS. Some operators
offer various SMS packages (from $0.01/SMS) or even unlimited SMS messaging for
a certain fee (visit your mobile operator's site for details). And you need to pay
for the Headwind SMS messaging software (a one-time fee, see
price list for details).
Why am I asked to enter a code?
This is the registration code, which is delivered to you after you purchase
Headwind SMS software. During a 30-day trial period, you do not need to enter
the code; you are able to send SMS from PC via Headwind SMS Suite anyway.
Please note that there are no limitations in the trial version except the 30-day
usage limit.
Technical questions
How can I establish the communication with the mobile phone?
The communication can be established using Bluetooth, infrared port or
cable (a Bluetooth connection is recommended). Before the connection, a
virtual serial port must be configured. See instructions
on the Bluetooth connection for details.
How can I check that my SMS has been sent?
You need to open a control panel by double-clicking
an application icon and look for the SMS in folders
"Outbox", "Sent", "Failed". If the SMS is in "Sent" folder, then it must be
sent successfully.
How can I use SMS for the remote management of my computer?
You may set up a command-line handler for incoming SMS.
The handler may be written in any programming language, it gets the contents of
a message through a command line.
May I setup an autoresponder for incoming SMS?
To make an autoresponder, you must use the COM interface.
It is recommended to write an autoresponder in a COM-friendly programming language
such as Visual Basic.
